Be the change Africa needs

Africa’s future rests in the hands of its next generation of leaders. But leadership is not merely about position — it’s about character, values, vision, and the ability to transform systems and societies.
We aspire to positively impact the life and future of 100 young Africans
🧭
What is MELT-Project 5:1:5?
- 5 years of measurable impact goals.
- 1 continent-wide vision.
- 5 transformation pillars: Mentorship, Ethics, Leadership, Transformation, Service.
This project is more than a conference — it is the launchpad of a continent-wide movement, starting in East Africa and scaling across Africa.
This December, we’ll launch the 5-year leadership journey with an in-person consultation where mentees will be paired with mentors who will mentor them into leaders who will go on to rebuild communities and serve nations.
🧭 What is MELT-Project 5:1:5?
Africa is rich in natural and spiritual resources, yet suffers greatly under the weight of poor governance, corruption, and social unrest. A new generation of ethical, resilient, and transformative leaders must arise.
The MELT Project is an intentional, continent-wide response — equipping young leaders to rise with integrity, courage, humility, and a vision for the common good.
🙏🏾 What is our vision?
To raise a generation of African leaders who are Christ-centred, embody the principles of transformational leadership, live with integrity, promote peace and justice, and lead selflessly for the common good of the Church, society, and the continent.
💡 How do we seek to achieve this?
- Host the inaugural MELT Leadership Conference in East Africa to convene 250+ young leaders, mentors, and transformation agents from across Africa.
- Establish a mentorship network pairing emerging leaders with established African change-makers.
- Develop a MELT Leadership Curriculum, combining African wisdom, global best practices, and faith-informed values.
- Empower community-based leadership projects in 15 African countries within the next 24 months.
- Launch the MELT Digital Hub, a platform for leadership training, collaboration, and storytelling.
🌱 Why Your Support Matters
- You’ll be investing in leaders, not just programs.
- Your support will multiply — every trained leader will impact hundreds more in their communities.
- This is African-led, community-rooted, and future-focused.
- We don’t just want to talk about change — we’re building the people who will lead it.

The seeds were planted in our hearts in 2001 on the need to monitor, document and disseminate sectarian violence from a truth telling perspective. In 2003, the motivation extended to mentoring young people for value-based leadership.
In 2008, we began to sense the need to build the capacity of women to become transformational change agents. These evolved over time culminating in the birth of The Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation.
The Citizens Monitoring Group (CMG) was the first to come on stream with the publication of “Plateau Under Attack” documenting eye-witness accounts of the January 2010 crises. Transformational mentoring through value-based leadership development (TLDMI) thrust is the second stream which commences in 2020, and African Women Arise Rebuild & Excel (AWARE) is the third stream of the Foundation.
