Para-Mallam emphasized that while the Fulani population in Nigeria is largely peaceful, a small faction of armed militants and criminal networks is responsible for widespread violence affecting both Christian and Muslim communities. He called for a unified, non-politicized national response, urging Nigerian leadership to prioritize citizen protection and strengthen security coordination.
The discussion also highlighted alarming data from the Peace Foundation’s records, documenting 451 verified violent attacks between January and May 13, 2026. These incidents reportedly resulted in 1,685 deaths and 2,474 abductions, averaging approximately 12 killings and 18 kidnappings daily, underscoring the scale and urgency of the crisis.
This is a renewed call for decisive action from the Nigerian government and international partners. Bola Tinubu was specifically urged to adopt stronger security measures and build on reforms aimed at restoring stability and public trust, as stakeholders warn that continued inaction risks deepening the climate of fear nationwide.
